The company currently called Polaroid periodically publicizes the chemical-reuse efforts of its chemists, and sells some of the experimental results as limited edition products.\u00a0 I am exactly the sort of person who buys experimental (potentially impermanent, potentially unpredictable) integral film.\u00a0 (We are a match made in capitalism…)<\/p>\n

This limited edition Blue 600 film is more satisfying in some ways than duochrome, in that it has THREE colors\/tones happening: black AND white AND blue!\u00a0 This combination was something I wanted as a cyanotype printer: I wanted black to increase the contrast of my deep-blue-and-white prints without needing to print a black gum bichromate layer on top… So this experimental, reclaimed chemistry emulsion was very relevant to my interests<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Despite being labeled as highly experimental, it appears to be more stable than other Polaroid emulsions I’ve tried.\u00a0 The prints still look good a few years later, making this particular chemistry feel like a wise purchase among Polaroid’s products.\u00a0 I hope it returns.<\/p>\n
