Pier 70 at Potrero Point (Kodak Portra)

Heavily textured metal walls, beams, and posts, with Building 12 written in bright orange 3D letters

I’ve been visiting (and photographing) the historic shipyard district around Pier 70 for years, even though many of the buildings were behind chain-link fences and falling to ruin.  The textures on the historic buildings were very satisfying, the oxidation on the metalwork was pleasing, and the geometry of these oversized buildings brimmed with potential.  Clerestory skylights!  Big, industrial windows!  While the ironwork performed inside was difficult and dangerous, the buildings remained impressive long after they’d fallen into disrepair.

The fences have been coming down, and the results of the renovations are impressive.

I took my Fuji GS645S and a few rolls of Portra to walk through the previously fenced-off streets.  My brick wall and rust fetishes are all satisfied!
