A friend traveling in Asia brought back the perfect gift for me: a roll of film that’s unavailable here! Film Never Die (of Australia) “Sora” is a 200-speed, beautifully packaged color negative film.
I hadn’t heard of it, and so wasn’t how best to use it. I took a walk in San Francisco’s Chinatown and North Beach neighborhoods with my beloved Contax G2 to test it out.
This film LOVES reds. And allows them to exceed their natural edges and GLOW excessively!
The internet tells me that this film is a Fuji consumer film (formerly C200, now just 200) that has been repackaged. This is encouraging, because these exaggerated reds are FUN, and I could enjoy exploiting this characteristic now that I know it is possible!
I feel lucky to have such good friends, a good 35mm camera, and good options for playing with outrageous reds again in the future.
