While I continue to work through my stockpile of pre-COVID-era refrigerated films, I also want to try new-to-me films. While I would happily use the subset of my old favorites which are still manufactured, I also want to explore my options. This inspired me to put CineStill 400D into my Fuji GS645S, my newest camera, and try this film out on a sunny day, both indoors and out.
Relative to my experience with Kodak, it’s very gold. I think it provides the sort of look that Lomo is attempting with its newer films: a buttery glow on neutral tones with bright blue skies. The butteriness is attractive.
It is pleasant to have this film as an option when I’m seeking this look.
